Every email I sent will be on the blog. I will be sending out a LOT of e-mails this season and sometimes it's just easier to refer to the blog if there is a bit of information that you need to refer to 3 e-mails back.

We also have a Facebook Group specifically for our team. Returning families, this is a NEW GROUP that I just created for this season. This is the place to share photos and other important info. It's also a place where parents can communicate with each other as well as with the coaches and me. (Of course we are also available via text and phone directly).

PRACTICE:
Practices are now Monday through Friday: 6 PM - 8 PM at Washington Elementary. Please contact me or any of the other coaches if your son needs a ride.
UPCOMING DATES:
August 10 (TONIGHT!!): 8 PM: Parent Meeting right after practice at the park
August 10 (TONIGHT!!): 8:30 PM: Shed will be open if your son needs to exchange helmet / shoulder pad size
August 22: Saturday: Braves Luncheon and Silent Auction Fundraiser. I am putting together a basket for the silent auction. The families of each team donate items. WE NEED IDEAS for our basket theme and what you fine families would be willing to donate. Our theme may be based on what types of stuff we can gather. (Last year we did a fitness theme). This year...maybe movie night? college theme? game night? food / restaurant?
August 28: Friday night after practice: Season Kick-Off Party and Potluck at the Harpers
August 29: Saturday: Pre-Season Game
September 5: First Game
UPCOMING EXPENSES / SUGGESTED FAMILY CONTRIBUTIONS:
This isn't everyone's favorite subject but my hope is to estimate additional expenses for the season now so there are no huge surprises moving forward.
BLACK PANTS: Our team purchases an additional pair of game pants. They are BLACK and padded. I am currently talking to a supplier to get an estimate on a team buy. Boys from last year may be able to wear their pants again but if they have outgrown them, please let me know and perhaps another boy may be able to use them. Prices range $20 - $50 pair depending
SOCKS: Our team will need a pair of long black socks, a pair of long red socks, and a pair of pink sock for October (Breast Cancer Awareness month - several of the boys' families have been affected with this so it hits home for sure). Again, I am talking to the supplier for these and we want to make sure the red and the pink socks match so we will buy all of these together at once. $10 - $15 pair
JERSEY EMBROIDERY: Last year we used the Utah Department of Corrections for our jersey embroidery at only $11 per pair of jerseys. I have a call into them to confirm this is still the price this year.
SPORTZ FILMZ: Our team usually purchases the game DVDs through Sportz Filmz. We need 10 families to purchase them in order to take advantage of the bulk discount. It certainly is an investment but also a valuable keepsake so that we can all actually ENJOY the games rather than trying to film them ourselves. They are also excellent tools at game analysis for our coaches as well as for your boys to see what can be improved upon in subsequent games. The DVDs are approximately $90 - $120 for the entire season
GAME DAY SNACKS: Each family rotates in bringing game day snacks for the boys. One family provides a half-time snack (usually oranges and Gatorade) and another family provides a post-game treat. I will send around the schedule before the first game so that you can sign up for your dates.
FUNDRAISER SILENT AUCTION BASKET / POTLUCK: This is the league fundraiser that will take place on August 22. We need to put together a basket of goodies that will be auctioned off. Any contribution you can make for the basket will be most appreciated.
We will also be receiving food assignments for this event so please stay tuned for that.
END OF SEASON BANQUET / COACH GIFTS: The end of season party is the other event where contributions / donations towards coach gifts are most appreciated. We try to keep the party expense to a minimum. Last year, we held the banquet at Pizza Pie Cafe and it worked out really well.
